On this day —exactly 56 years ago— Joan Crawford wrote the following letter to Elvis Presley. While spending a few days on the MGM lot for the television series The Man from UNCLE (in which she had a guest role), Joan had met with Elvis' manager Colonel Parker while Elvis himself was out of town. In her letter, Joan thanks Elvis for his and Colonel Parker's kindness towards her, including being allowed the use of Elvis' golf cart. Incidentally, knowing they never made a film together, I searched for a connection between Joan and Elvis but found none (perhaps Joan was just a fan?). There was a link, however, between Elvis and Joan's daughter Christina. Christina had a small role in one of Elvis' films, Wild in the Country (1961), and off the set an incident between her and Elvis occurred, which you can read about here.

The history with Christina & Elvis was definitely NOT friendly. Here's the short story: https://youtube.com/shorts/AHwGRHYeYeQ?si=tbNNe71E5NMGQBP5
ReplyDeleteChristina Crawford, who had a bit part in "Wild in the Country," came up to the house one night to see Joe Esposito. She's Joan Crawford's adopted daughter, the one who wrote Mommie Dearest. Elvis was smoking cigars that night, and every time he'd take one out, Joe would start to light it for him, and Christina would reach out and grab it and break it.And Elvis said, "Don't do that, that's not funny." So he picked up another one, and Joe went to light it again. And she broke it again. And Elvis said, "I've asked you nicely." She said, "Well, he shouldn't have to light your cigars" and Elvis said, "Look he works for me goddammit, and knows when I get a cigar to light it for me."
DeleteBut she did it a third time, and boy Elvis got mad. They got into a barrage of words. Elvis said, "Look you bitch--" and Christina threw a drink in his face. He stopped a minute and then he said "I'm going to eliminate this problem." He got up and stepped on the top of this five by six marble coffee table we had and grabbed her by her ponytail and dragged her across the damn table out of the room. Then he kicked her right in the rear as she was going out the door. It wasn't but a short time later that she came back up and apologized. She said the reason she'd done it was because she resented seeing her mother treat everybody who worked for her the same wa
you clearly don't know the reason Elvis treated ger that way! She was initially rude tried to mandate in Elvis's house tell him what to do and that's something nobody likes! Go try to tell the owner of the house what to do and you'll get kicked out of the house too! That's basically the reason Elvis kicked her out! Christina Crawford was a bitter resentful woman because she was adopted and her mother Joan Crawford never truly loved herm
DeleteThat's story is as believable as Peter pan 🤣🤣🤣 If that were true Christina Crawford would have made it public to earn a lot of money from the press!! Christina Crawford never addressed that incident which was told by Elvis's Memphis mafia joe Esposito a known liar!
ReplyDeleteThe reason I believe Joe Esposito made that up is because Elvis allegedly slept with his girlfriend or something so it's predictable that Joe Esposito would make that up! Furthermore Christina Crawford never said anything about it publicly which makes it less credible! If it were true she definitely would have made a big deal about it to earn as many $ as she could!!!
